Dressmaker in Melbourne
Question:
Hi girls! I actualyl want a dress made for an event that's two weeks away from now/ Is t possible to get a dressmkaer to make one for me? I want a knee length silk red number? Is it doable? Any recs would be great Answer: I think two weeks is cutting it pretty fine, especially if you haven't purchased the fabric yet. If you do find a dressmaker who can do it, be prepared to pay a premium. Answer: Hmm, I thought so I might just have to have a look in the shops and hopefully find something similar. Maybe I'll be in luck, consdering it's sale time now. Answer: the magic tailor off glenferrie rd hawthorn? try them they're really good with all my alterations and have made some great dresses for my friends, not too expensive either - its on the side street with cafe vamp on the corner. Answer: Is it what it's called? The Magic Tailor? Answer: I'm kind of nervous now since it's probably now enough time enough (short notice) so I'll try to find the dress in the shops and if not I will keep them in mind for future refrerence Thank you Answer: How much does it usually cost to have a dress made? I'm thinking of getting a really simple dress made, something along the lines of a short tube dress with a lace hem. Would it cost more than $50 (or is that wishful thinking)? I have the material and all - I just need someone who knows how to put it nicely together. TIA! Answer: eevee - one of my best friends had all her bridesmaids dresses made by this lady in croydon. I think they cost around $80 each plus material - most of our dresses were kind of complicated (one had a corset top with boning in it!) so I think for a tube dress it'd be a lot cheaper. the dressmaker is kinda scary though (v pushy so u need to be assertive with what u want) and she's all the way in croydon. pm me if u want me to find the details for u. Answer: i just wanted to bump this thread because im planning to get my formal dress tailor made. how long would it take? what are the costs like? and where would i find material ? Answer: be careful with "dressmakers", they usually dont have any formal training, and if they are really cheap, theres a good chance they dont really know what they are doing... i could tell you plenty of horror stories of botched dressmaker jobs that ive had to fix at the last minute... and even then, there is only so much you can fix...
