What's Your Best/Latest Op Shop Find? - Page 2
Question:
hand-crochet coral pink gloves in excellent condition! $1.50 (half price sale!) 4x2 metres of white polka dots on red chiffon fabric by John Kaldor! $4 wooden stacked heel taupe leather boots (in my size!) $8.50 you have to hunt around through heaps of junk but once in a while you find something really special Answer: Originally Posted by miss.fcuk everytime i go to op shops its full of junk? where are there good op shops to find good stuff? Its all a matter of luck! I suppose thats what makes it so enjoyable! I love that you can go one day and not find a single thing and then the next time you go, theres a million and one things to find. Its all timining. I think the best thing is probably to make it a regular habit so you dont miss out on anything. My fav items would have to be: - This multicoloured grey purple and pink patterned dress with cap sleeves. - Round toe aligator skin pumps in mustard - Beige almond toe pumps made out of this slightly ribbed fabric with tiny gold lining on the heel - Tan round toe leather pumps - Red chanel scarf with chain patterns - Bright red/pinky high waisted pencil skirt - Chocolate brown oroton glomesh bag - Bright green satin Oscar de la renta makeup bag (most stunning green) - Chocolate brown snakeskin clutch - Long tan Dkny cardigan (missing button but I prefer the way it looks tied up at the bottom) - Brushed gold leather weaved messanger bag Op shops, no shopping experience more enjoyable! Answer: Originally Posted by miss.fcuk everytime i go to op shops its full of junk? where are there good op shops to find good stuff? Well you're not going to come across an op-shop filled to the brim with dirt-cheap designer items -- they're all full of junk. The trick is to be able to search through the junk to find the gems. My best ever buy was a vintage camel-coloured leather coat in perfect condition for $40. It fits me absolutely perfectly. Answer: i am addicted to op-shopping... i go every week (but the op-shops in geelong aren't as great as they are in canberra) - bettina liano bootcut jeans for $6 (i took the legs in and made them skinny leg) - ben sherman navy + white striped shirt $2 - lacoste pale blue v-neck jumper $1.50 - ankle length fletcher jones mod print skirt $5 - alaia black pencil skirt $8 - witchery black wrap cardi $2 (i wear it everywhere) Answer: I found two white cardigans (one chunky, one slightly lighter) for 50 cents each! Can't wait to wear them when it gets colder.. I've always found nice dresses but they're always way too big for me.. Most of them are size 12-14s Answer: Originally Posted by igottherollerboogie I've found heaps of great stuff in Op shops. I love them. You just have to be in the right place at the right time. I agree to an extent... part of it is also looking at things out of context, eg. a boring brown dress can be made interesting with a cute silk shirt underneath, buttons on the straps to make it look like a pinafore and some funky heels. Or a long hippy skirt that can be belted under the bust to make it a dress. I love op-shopping but hardly get out as often as I used to - shopping has been de-prioritised recently. But my best finds are usually from Good Sammy's, specifically; - a 1950's, cream, pleated stiff satin skirt for $5 (the label says 'Eve of Perth' too, authentic AND local!) - cream/golden long skirt with buttons on the front that I belt under the bust and wear as a dress (pseudo-hippy-style) - pleated, flowly, purple chiffon skirt - again it's meant to be worn as a skirt but it's ridiculously huge so I belt it and wear it as a strapless dress - heaps and heaps of bags, especially glomesh ones! Op-shopping, antique or market shopping when you're overseas is also fantastic. I found the most beautiful printed nightgown that I wear as a sheer dress in a tiny, dusty antique shop in Brussels four years ago that I still wear on special occasions. Totally agree with that -- you need to try to think imaginatively about items and have a good eye for what they can be worn with. Answer: ooh at the moment, my favourite finds include: -black dress: fitted top part with scalloped neckline with a tulip skirt from the waist. ($5 from anglicare) -bright bright purple long sleeveless top, i tend to wear this as a dress/smock ($3 from vinnies) -bright blue a-line waisted skirt ($5, anglicare i think) -red flats with cutout holes ($10, vinnies) -yellow 70's anthea crawford sun dress ($15, vinnies) -royal blue 80's pumps ($2, random opshop) -same style shoe, in silver with a sort of swirly pattern? ($5, same shop) -black patent pumps with gold buckle (not sure how much, vinnies) -white shirtdress with big yellow and blue spots ($6, the smith family) -cow skin satchel-style bag (cant remember how much, vinnies) um ok im getting a bit carried away haha.. i love opshopping ha. Answer: I used to find heaps of stuff, but it's less and less now. Gorgeous beaded earrings for $1 A pale pink Italian leather clutch $3 (I think, it was included in this other bag I got) Heaps of scarves for hair/belt/neck ranged from $1 to $3 A white mens business shirt for $3 Answer: my bf found a ralph lauren polo the other week, was a bit big for him but it was only $5!
