Yeah, I actually do want above the knee socks for display socks, but for comfort socks, I want knee socks, but ones that do go almost up to the knee, cause I also find once they're worn a few times, they end up only going up to my ankles!
kmart and them sell em, i brought over the knee socks. and it is ones that doesnt cut of the circulation.( as mentioned in package)

Hmm, they must mean under-the-knee when they say knee socks then! I have quite a few pairs of them.
I also have thigh-highs, I think that's what they're called, they end halfway up the thighs. Are they too high? I get mine from the internet, haven't been able to find a store that sells them yet.

Actually I walked past Kookai today & they had some over the knee socks on the mannequins (not quite mid thigh high). But they were lurex mix, silver or black.

i bought voodoo over the knee socks today, but even trying them on at home i felt that they would start to slide down pretty quickly. haha maybe this is a silly idea but would hollywood tape prevent this?? i want to be able to wear them with short dresses etc

Socks never seem to be long enough I have the same problem with stay up/hook on stockings too - they all seem to sit about 1/4 of the way up my thigh, whereas on the model on the packet they're 3/4 the way up. I'm 173cm tall so I figure the girl in the pic is around my height or taller, so they should be the same on me.
Also I don't get why all brands make women's socks in sz 2-8 when women's shoes are sz 5-10
