I work in a corporate environment and I wear fishnets (tan/beige/small and big diamonds) all the time. I think they're a lot more interesting than normal plain sheer stockings.
There's now a great range of patterned stockings which would look great, but I would steer away from black if your skirt is lighter in colour.

I would wear a nice pair of patterned stockings. Alannah Hill has some lovely desgins, and they wear and wash well.

i shy away from dark fishnets (too sexy on me - i'm tall and curvy) but i wear a wide net beige pair all the time and i think they're ok...

I've seen girls pull off nude coloured fishnets - it looks SO surprisingly nice!? Like at first glance it looks like nothing but then you notice they're skin-coloured fishnets... so maybe that's an option with a lighter-coloured skirt?

I'm all for nude fishnets, not so much the darker ones - a bit much for me, guess it depends on how much it stands out teamed with the rest of the outfit.
I bought some nice black stockings in a diagnonal cross hatch pattern, they're semi opaque and appropriate for corporate wear without being boring.

Normally I would wear black sheer / opaque / patterned stockings to work. Not that daring to wear fishnets......
