Having makeup done for an event
Question:
I apologise if this gets brought up a lot but its sort of hard to search for threads that are specific to it....
I'm wanting to have my makeup done for a friends wedding in May and was wondering if anyone can recommend a brand?
I've been to Benefit before and they were good but probably not great. I live in Brisbane and ideally, would want to go either into the city or to Carindale.
Has anyone ever had makeup done with Revlon? I've noticed their new products are really nice and wondered whether they have artists at counters that do it?
The dress code for the wedding is cocktail and I have a red dress so I was hoping to having something really nice done to match my outfit (I'm considering red lips and light eyes - which I dont think I can do myself as I'm sure I'll screw it up!).
I've noticed the new Myer cosmetic section in the city has heaps of different places now but I dont know who to go with.... has anyone had any good experiences in there with someone and could recommend?
TIA

Answer:
I recommend MAC. Most SA's working at a cosmetics counter are not actually trained to be MUA's, however it is compulsory at MAC. Remember they are not all about crazy bright makeup, they can do any look you ask for. It is $95 and that is redeemable on the products (works out to be around 3 products)

Thanks lovedust - but $95, yikes. I was hoping for a bit less money... I spose if you can buy product though thats ok.
Although, would you get much for $95? I've been told MAC isnt cheap?

Answer:
Bobbi Brown @ DJ's do great make up

Answer:
Vogue Glamour, any chance you know what kind of price range?

Its pretty reasonable for the quality and range. Lipgloss is $32, foundations around $48, eyeshadows $30. Not too bad and you will be really happy with the makeup Im sure.
Most counters charge around $60 or a minimum purchase of two products

Answer:
MAC for sure Use the money to get a powder and lippie to touch up with, and a foundation or an eyeshadow or something?

Ive had my makeup done at MAC, Bobbi Brown and Mecca. Bobbi Brown was definately the best, but in saying that they were all very good and I was happy with the results each time.
Both Bobbi Brown and MAC use trained make up artists as opposed to other make up counters that are at Myer and DJs. Im not sure about Mecca though, but the girl I had was really good anyway.
At BB I really like how they take time to carefully access ur skin type and apply appropriate creams etc even before the makeup. At Mecca and MAC I dont think that they took the same amount of time doing this and applying my makeup they seemed to be working a lot faster (maybe it was a busy day though?)
With all 3 I found that the makeup lasted really well (probably about 10 or 11 hours).
Oh and also, at Mecca the money is not redeemable as it is with BB and MAC.

Great thread!
Has anyone had a Dior makeover? Or know the details?
I was just thinking I use their products anyway, so that'd be good if it was a decent deal
