Neostrata - Page 5
Question:
Waterbabe, thanks for the reply. I might go back and return it and buy the renewal cream instead. Though now I'm starting to get a little confused as to what order and when I should be putting what . I cleanse morning and night and use the serum morning and night, except I only use the day cream for the day (the 15+ one) and only use the ultra smoothing lotion at night. Is that right?
Btw the smoothing lotion I really do like I find that it does make my skin smoother and brighter and I've only been using it diligently for a week

Answer:
I'm still using the range and love it! I actually use the Fading Gel wherever I feel I need it and sometimes I use it all over my face... mainly just on my forhead hairline & my upper lip (pigmentation from the pill I think).
BelindaK - I get mine from Oze Pharmacy in Castle Hill but I know you can also get it from the big Pharmacy on Pitt Street (can't remember the name).
I only use the Bionic Face Serum at night because I find it can be quite sticky. I also use the Renewal Cream about once a week cause I was told that this cream actually works right down under the layers of skin instead of just the top layer like the rest of the range.

I have little freckles, not very noticeable but I know they're there.
I emailed the company and they told me the fading gel is the best one for pigmentation, i have lots of it (pigmentation). I should get mine on Monday.
I went on line and got it for $29.95 plus $6 delivery!

Answer:
I emailed Josie, their customer service rep.
In the Neostrata range I would have thought that their Fading Gel would be the best product to use for treating pigmentation, I think it's the only product specific to that condition.
But I work in a pharmacy and get everything at cost price, so I don't think I'll be buying online.
For myself, I'd be happier using a kojic acid based product over one containing hydroquinone, although hydroquinone worked very well for my mum after she went through menopause. And I've seen really good results with kojic acid on someone I know.

What did your Mum use? and what do u yuse now? I am back to trying my whitening product from the Philphines (it works well but is drying for me)

Answer:
She used Superfade. It worked well for her although some people have written on the forum they didn't like the product.
Currently I don't use any products to whiten or treat pigmentation. I use tretinoin though, and that is supposed to have a limited effect on pigmentation.

Answer:
Can someone please post pictures of what the pigmentation is supposed to look like? I'm just not sure what its supposed to look like and whether I have the right idea of what it is in my head I think I may have it as it sounds very common, especially as I spent alot of time sunscreen free in the sun when I was growing up...

A couple of examples I googled up.
I have a really light smattering of little spots, you would think they were freckles because that's what they look like.

Answer:
Ok mine isn't like that - see that first freaky pic, where her eyes are blacked out, mine is similar except the white area on the side of her cheek is like the inside part of my cheek.. I'll stick to the fading gel then...looks like I should keep it after all. One question though, if I use it only on my cheeks won't there be a difference in the rest of my face?
Thanks for the pics Sooty

Answer:
Well, the Neostrata Fading Gel contains kojic acid as it's active ingredient which works in treating hyperpigmentation by reducing melanin production. So I would think that the areas you are treating are those affected by this problem. With hydroquinone you are only supposed to apply it to the affected areas, and my mum hasn't had any problems with her skin tone not being even after use.
I didn't know what the recommendation for the Fading Gel was, so I emailed Josie and hopefully she'll get back to me tomorrow. I know someone who uses it all over, on the advice of their dermatologist, and it's not been problematic for them but I wondered what Hamilton recommends.
