Neostrata - Page 6
Question:
Awesome, thanks so much for your help. And yes, please also let us know with their response. Answer: hm.. I've been thinking about buying products with PHA/ AHA, Kojic acid etc... i´m just scared about how my skin might get worse since even Oil of Olay stings under my eyes... I don't have pigmentation like those pictures that sooty gave as such, but just freckles over my cheeks and nose (i guess where the sun goes). should i give Neostrata a go?? Answer: About a year ago i started using the smoothng lotion every night and did so for about 2-3 months and it was starting to get results but then i started getting this reaction to it on my chin where the skin went all flaky and scaly and itchy and red and I had to stop using it! The reaction took about a month to heal properly and I felt that it was because i overdid it with the aha's and needed a break... now I want to start using some AHA's again to work on my pigmentation and scarring but i am scared incase i get a reaction again... any reccomendations? Btw, I also recently started using PC's BHA gel and find that it is much more gentle and non iritating but at the same time gives me hardly any results : What to do... Answer: Hi, I have 1 sample satchet of Neostrata AHA to give away (might have another if i look around), PM if your interested. (I thought I'd post here instead of Free for all, given the topic name. But if no one takes it then I'll put it in that section) Answer: Originally Posted by ChelleBella About a year ago i started using the smoothng lotion every night and did so for about 2-3 months and it was starting to get results but then i started getting this reaction to it on my chin where the skin went all flaky and scaly and itchy and red and I had to stop using it! Probably start off with a really low concentration of AHA and work your way up. The Ultra Smoothing Lotion is 10% AHA product. The Renewal Cream is just a 12% PHA, and PHA are gentler than AHA. And you can always investigate other lines. Peter Thomas Roth's range includes AHA products. Josie got back to me about the Fading Gel. She said they recommend it to be used either soley on the pigmentation or all over. Answer: I've been using Neostrata since I found out about it on this forum. Love love LOVE it. I have slightly sensitive skin (I say 'slightly' because it's nothing like those who've got genuinely sensitive skin!) - I can't use anything too highly fragranced, or physical exfoliants, because they'll break me out. Neostrata has been my HG in terms of an exfoliant - I use the cleanser on my face every night and the smoothing lotion on my face, neck and chest every second night. I don't use them too much because I don't want to overdo it, especially in summer. I'm a total cheap-skate with products, because I've found that the simple, pharmarceutical buys like QV, Cetaphil etc work best for my skin (my experience with Jurlique were usually awful!!). I emailed the company and asked for a sample before I bought it - and even with the samples, I noticed a difference in my skin. So to the girls who are worried about breaking out, I say give it a shot - I didn't, it actually helped my skin recover after I'd broken out badly (thanks to my experiments with products containing rosehip oil!) Answer: That's so good to hear natural girl. You know what really stands out in a company? Their customer service I emailed Josie 3 times today, I forgot to ask about the fading gel and the renewal cream. And she responded virtually (pun not intended :P) straight away, how good is that She said the renewal cream is if I need more hydration which I probably won't based on what she said to me, but the most important thing that she told me was that the fading gel could also be used on your knees and armpits as well and also use it on your entire cheek area if you have spots of pigmentation all over (like me). Just letting y'all know Answer: I started using Neostrata about six years ago. I used to use the cleanser, day cream, and ultra moisturising 10% AHA cream or Renewal cream. My skin has always been very clear and even-coloured, even when I've got a few spots, and I think it's due to Neostrata as much as genetics. I switched to Paula's Choice a couple of months ago because it's cheaper on the whole, and really liked it for a while, but now I feel like my skin's becoming duller, and the BHA 1% gel that worked so well at first seems to be making the skin on my nose tough and dry and peely. I still have half a Smoothing Lotion that I use on my elbows. I want to go back to Neostrata for everything except cleanser (her one step gel is great, and almost 500ml for less that $40 as opposed to $30 for 100ml!) and day cream (I want 30+, less greasy and a pump pack) but I'm not quite sure what to go back to. My skin's not as dry as it used to be (prob dryer in winter though) and my main problems are blackheads on my nose and a few hormonal spots. What do you guys think I should get? Answer: If your skin is less dry than it used to be perhaps try their lotions instead of the creams? Like their Ultra Smoothing Lotion, in place of the Ultra Smoothing Cream. If oiliness is a concern they also have an Oil Control gel which contains gluconolactone as well as mandelic acid. Mandelic acid can be really effective when used on oily or acne prone skin and can less irritating than other acids. Or the Gel Plus can also be used on the face for those who have oily skin or acne. I think their peel product is great. I would recommend it to others. I used it for a few months. It's called the Citriate Treatment System. I don't know how much the average retail price for this is, but I do know the RRP is about $80 ish. I am happy to assist anyone with a CP if you're having trouble getting the products.
