I am about to replace all my dermalogica with MD Formulations. What happened to your skin on MD. I'm scared now.

It was the glycolic cleansers,AHA & BHA peels, acid masks, if it had acids in it, I was using it.
all the acids my skin loved to start with, FABULOUS results, but then it all came to a crashing halt when I reacted to it (after a long time - 18 months) and ended up with the worst skin problems i've ever had (2 months before my wedding of course!). 8 - 12 months on, my skin is only just starting to recover from incredible oversensitivity (getting sunburnt through the tinted windows of the car at 9am on an overcast day!) severe dryness, dehydration, red rash type breakouts, congestion, blackheads and blind pimples, which i've never had until then. It's not guaranteed to happen to anyone, of course, but I know i'm not the only person it's happened to.

I honestly believe acids in skincare should only be available by prescrption only from a dermatologist. It's just too easy to do a hell of a lot of damage to your skin with these ingredients. I know it's not the case for all people, but for those who it is, it's a very painful lesson to learn.

If you have ever experienced sensitivity or are dry or dehydrated skinned AT ALL, stay away from acids in skincare.

Answer:
That sounds terrible. Were those products recommended to you?

Answer:
I use only Dermalogica and LUSH, and I can honestly say that Dermalogica definitely imrpoved the overall texture and dryness,
but caused me to break out in lumps/large pimples only on my forehead, which I find quite bizarre. This is why I supplement my Dermalogica with LUSH Fresh Farmacy and Cupcake Fresh Mask, and AOBS.

Yep. By several Beauty Therapists. I'm not saying the products are all evil, but you have to be extremely careful with them and not overdo it.

Answer:
I used to only use Dermalogica as their products were so effective. However, after using Dermalogica for some time, my skin did not seem to benefit further from it and that's when I stray to something else. Now, half of my skin care product consists of Dermalogica but I do rotate around a few different products from time to time.

Thanks for that advice. It's scary isn't it to think that companies go around selling potentially damaging/harmful things to consumers. I'll slowly introduce some of the products. I'm already using the VitA Night Recovery (only once a week) and the Antioxidant Eye Cream. I'll think I'll just avoid the cleansers.

Answer:
I was using Dermalogica almost exclusively without even really trying. At one point I was using Special Cleansing Gel, alternating between exfoliants (Skin Prep Scrub, Daily Microfoliant and Gentle Cream Exfoliant), Daily Resurfacer, Active Moist and then occasionally Ultracalming Cleanser. My skin was the best when I was consistently using the Daily Resurfacer.
My skin was slowly deteriorating, flakey and dehydrated, oily, breakout-prone and then it went beserk during that weather change a few weeks ago and I changed to a different brand of everything and my skin is so much better now.
I've either gotten used to Dermalogica or it only suits me during really hot and oily conditions. I'm going to take a break from the brand, I'll probably keep using some of the exfoliants though.

Which brand did you change to?

Answer:
I dont use Dermalogica but I do use another product exclusively and I find it works for me! Guess it depends on your skin & the product
