vitamin c serum = blackheads?
Question:
I've been using the skinceuticals serum 20 for around two months now and while I like the clarity its given to my skin, on close inspection yesterday i have discovered blackheads in places I have NEVER had blackheads before - eg on my cheeks and forehead (normally they are confined to my nose). I remember reading a while back that vitamin c can cause blackheads, but just wondering if anyone has had anything similar occur? Answer: I am using the same serum (only for 2 weeks or so) and haven't noticed and increase in blackheads. I had some prior to using the serum and it hasn't made them worse. Answer: Rhania I noticed that too. There's a thread at EDS talking about the same thing http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum....php?tid=22972 Answer: Originally Posted by saffrony69 Rhania I noticed that too. Answer: Thats ok. Ive given up on vit c - its just too irritating as well and dries the **** out of my skin. Its the L ascorbic acid one's my skin dosent like. I might try a MAP(Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) ) based one again. Its much gentler on the skin but Ive read not as effective as L ascorbic acid in stimulating collagen. But its more stable than L Ascorbic. I cant think of many MAP based one though. One I used to use was from the chemist called facelift serum (c25 or something like that) Anyway I liked that, seemed to give my skin a bit of a glow. Well I've read through the EDS thread and it seems so many people react this way to L absorbic acid. I've never heard of MAP based c serums - sounds promising though. Once I've finished the bottle I have (any day now), I won't go back on vit c again. I'm about to start on Retinol anyway so I probably don't want to dry my skin out too much. And rosehip oil is a god send .... i will use that everynight forever! Copyright ? 2006 - 2007 www.thankhealth.com Privacy Policy
