Another congestion/microdermabrasion question - Page 2
Question:
Would a peel be more beneficial to get rid of blackheads? Since micro did nothing, except increased the amount?

Answer:
I have oily congested skin also.
I had 3 micro sesions (at 120 bucks a pop) and didn't see much results. Not to mention they hurt like the proverbial! I think micro is good for scarring as it 'sands down' the surface but I much prefer peels. I got very good results with a course of MD alpha beta peels and 25% peels. I would stop the micro but stay with the MD products as they are very good (but don't overload - just cleanser and gentle moisturiser) and after a month or so of rest for your poor skin, go for some peels. Start with the 25% and work up to the alpha-beta peels.
I think the physical stimulation of micro d is not always good for skins and can def cause additional congestion.

Answer:
I Second the Peels!! Micro can make sensitive stressed out skin worse, I know mine was a very expensive mistake too and I sucked into buying heaps of inappropriate products when i was in a state of facial euphoria
The peels help to bring all the impurities to the surface and then they can be treated and healing can start to take place

Answer:
I have oily skin, tried microD and found it irritated my skin and made me break out like crazy instead. I've gone back to having glycolic peels. MD products aren't for everyone, I had a friend who was worse off using it rather than her simple moisturiser and cleanser.
