I can't understand how you would get past the 'dirty' stage?! You would think it would just get dirtier. That reminds me of some guy who had dreadlocks (never washed his hair) and ended up getting spiders eggs in his hair, went to salon to get his locks cut off and then........ a spider crawled out of his hair and bit the HD!! True Story!!! So ewwwwwwwwwww to that!

nope, I have to wash my hair every 2-3 days however I would love to stop washing it for my entire life cos I hate washing it. its soooo boring!!

I might add though that i have very curly hair, so i dont know what its like to have oily hair. The three weeks was over school holidays when i was at high school and i was going to the beach alot. I didnt put any products in or anything- i just went swimming, tied my hair up, and the saltwater helped my hair fall into ringlets. It did get frizzy, but when it got out of control i just went for another swim and it kinda calmed down.
But let me tell you, when i finally wanted to wash my hair i had to deep condition like all hell, and even then i had a huge matted bit on the underside of my hair i had to cut out with thinning scissors. I dont reccommend not brushing your hair

I used to have long hair and I could only go 2 days and the 2nd day had to be in a ponytail. When I chopped it all of to a couple of inches and bleached it I think I nearly went 3 weeks without washing it because it was so dry!!! Since then I have tried to drag the days out between washing it - my hair is now neck length and i can go 7 days easy.
It's what your hair gets used to. I admit if i was to extend the days between ashes when i had long hair i would have to be on a desert island where no-one would see me.
If you dye your hair you will probably notice you can go longer straight afterwards as the natural oils have been stripped. That is why you will probably notice that guys can go longer between washes than women as their hair is usually short and if it's long they want that beach look which you can't get with pristine washed hair.
I know a lot of hair dressers that go for weeks without washing as they know the pros and cons and none of their hair looks oily or smells.
IMO each to their own
