This is an old thread... the old GHDs have been pulled out and replaced with the new one so no one is supposed to sell the old ones anymore. So yes your HD is right it is illegal to keep selling the old ones (thru stores obviously, ebay doesn't count)
To hello... and pinklipgloss: The trade in finished on March 31st. You basically had to bring in any hair appliances you had and you could buy the old GHD for $75 less.

Answer:
^^^thanks! BUGGER i missed it!!! ^^^^^

Answer:
So how is everyone finding the new curler? Does it straighten just as well? But more importantly does it curl easier? I can never do them with my current GHD so am wondering if I should get this new one...

Answer:
I curl my hair really nicely with the old ghd.
My hair is already pretty much straight so I only use it for curls. However, ghd's really, really damage my hair. I've used my ghd less than 10 times and it gives me the worst split ends even though I used a heat protector. Don't know whether I even want it anymore!!!

Answer:
ooh daesy would you sell it? lol i'm waiting for my bank account to grow $300 to get the new one

Answer:
My HD told me is pretty much the same with the "old" one in terms of curling.

It's the same method of curling as the old GHD. It's just being promoted as creating better looking curls due to the rounder barrel.
Hold your straightener downward, tip facing down, cord up. Grab a small section of your hair, a bit less then the size you would to straighten it. Then using two hands to hold the straightener, with the strand of hair in between hands for better control, curl hair inwards, in a downward motion...
I don't think I made any sense

Answer:
Yes you made a lot of sense! I just had to read it a few times
I really need to put aside a whole day just to practice though. Any time ive had it done at the hairdressers mine turns out like ringlets! And then when i do it myself it goes all crazy and not curly I am seriously no good with hair... give me makeup any day!

Answer:

I remember when I first started doing it, I'd accidentally lose grip of a strand halfway down then end up straightening a curl
I don't like the curls I get from my straightener and just use a curling iron.
the results! It gives me big loose curls, rather then ringlets, which is what I'm after.
