hey!
im getting my hair coloured tomorrow and she puts the colour straight on my hair before washing it. i want to go out tonight though, and its quite greasy. i normally use talcum powder to fix this, but im wondering if this will be bad for my hair appointment tomorrow. also being around the smoke in clubs. hmmm. not sure if it matters or not. if anyone knows i would appreciate some help!

ok i'm too late but -
my hairdresser like my hair dirty when she bleaches it but i heard if its going darker then it'll be clean.
I dont ever remember someone washing my hair before colouring it so dry hair for dying is normal.
I imagine the talc might be risky - if its that bad then...yeah give it a wash!

thanks girls. your replies were great. i ended up being too tired to go out. im actually in bed with a glass (or 3) or red watching sex and the city season 3. a much better option i think. but that does make sense, re dirty hair. when i go to my current hairdresser she says "oh good" when i say that it is a bit dirty. but my other one used to wash it before putting colour on. hmm.
in the future though i think that it makes sense to avoid talc before a colour. still not sure about having hair that smells like smoke. maybe ill ask her tomorrow

Normaly in all cases... because i go to all mix cheap salons such as stefans to (just cut) or profetionals salons.. i normaly just wash my hair at home first and then add just atiny pit of hairspray when u head out to the salon then at least u are sure its clean incase they dont wash ur hair first....
Ones silly me i shove alot of hair product on my hair just because i was steping out of my home to look beautiful heading str8 to the salon the lady argues me dont come with wearing hairspray and stuff while ur comming to the hairsalon to cut it or to colour it.... she thought it was silly.. yeah she was right abit embaresing for me that was..

well i went today and my hairdresser says that she prefers dirty hair because she finds that the colour adheres to the hair better. but if i had gone out with product in the night or day before, then it was better to wash it before coming in.

i sometimes wash my hair on the same day as a colour. it makes absolutely no difference to my result (from brown to blonde). in fact, years ago i used to go to this salon where they'd wash and cut the hair first, then dry it off, and then colour it (and wash it again blah blah. it was a loooong process)
