Why HD's keep using semi permanent tint? - Page 2
Question:
I went from blond to brown a few years ago. The whole colour washed out the first wash (2 days later) I did! I went back to the HD a day later to have it redone and then they charged me for it! I wasn't impressed seeing as I had spent $200 in the salon three days earlier. I was recently in the processof going from brown to blond. My regular HD had had 5 attempts at it and convinced me to have to tip cap. It looked horrible, dark blond regrowth were the tip cap couldn't reach, brassy reddy ends were the blond hadn't taken properly and white blond in the middle. Went and saw a new HD a few weeks ago and had a few diff colour foils. Looks soooo much better. Very happy. Hair is so stressful!!! Answer: I bought Wella Color Saver shampoo and conditioner/mask hopefully that will help. Answer: Yeah, my hair also fades so quickly, even with permanent colours. It's SO annoying, especially considering it costs so much for my so-called "extra long" hair (just below shoulder length at the longest layers, most layers on shoulder or above). I also would prefer a controllable/fixable regrowth after 2-4 weeks rather than a whole entire head of faded, coppery colour. The last time I went to the HD I actually said I wanted a permanent colour and specifically NOT a semi, as they just don't stay, and she said something about how a semi is more gentle on hair and blah, blah, regrowth etc, and I said, no I want a permanent, so she did it (apparently), but I noticed no difference with the fading. Still faded. Con sarn it. And YES, why do they ALWAYS make your hair so much darker than what you ask for!? I always bring in photos of hair colours I want, and they say yeah, blah, and then they show me the sample hair thing they've got and even they're darker than what I showed them, so I say, but I want THIS colour (pointing again to my photos), and they say something about my hair will look better a bit darker, etc, and then we compromise and I am happy, UNTIL the end when my hair is way too dark anyway. I think it's all a conspiracy where they argue with you but then end up doing what they want anyway. I bet the HD still just put a semi on me and used the darker colours I said I didn't want. DAMN THEM! Answer: Oh, and also I know about the colour shampoos and things that are supposed to stop colour from fading, but I've never liked them, firstly cause I don't think those ones that are actually colour depositing are specific enough to different hair colours and shades and highlights...like, the brown ones I would fear would turn my hair too red or dark...and the blonde ones if I were blonde I'd be scared would turn it too dark or brassy...you know? I also don't like the colour shampoos cause the one I tried (as a free sample in a magazine) made my hair SO sticky and limp. Terrible! Answer: Thats why I do my own at home now. It used to bug me to pay $90 for a full solid darker colour which would wash out in 2 washes. I'll alwys get a pro to do highlights but its shamefully easy to whack a packet of dark dye on for $15 from priceline. I have dark hair anyway so I always prefer to have permanent as it does stay longer (duh!) and I only have tp re-do every couple of months as opposed to every 3-4 weeks Answer: As an ex-hairdresser I like the idea of using semi's instead of tints when you are going darker, well thats if you dont need the tint for grey coverage. I find what works well is back to back semi colour. When they do two applications of semi, it might cost a bit more at first but the result is so much better. This is what I do everytime I go from blonde to brown. It does depend on the condition of the hair as well....if your hair is fairly porus (especially if you have been colouring your hair blonde for a while) a tint won't take well as the tint opens the hair folicals up more for the colour to absorb, but they don't tend to close as flat/tightly as a semi - and thats why the semi should leave your hair in better cond. Hope this makes sense. Answer: It really is no point in constant semi's (unless your hair is damaged /porous )L'Oreal's Castings is the same as L'Oreal's professional Diacolour demi may as well DIY imo, it'll save you a bundle as well Semi's these days are a lot longer lasting and really are Demi's which should hang in there 6 weeks at least unless the HD is watering it down they will build up though so don't take them all the way through. Answer: I got a semi put through my hair the other day. The HD said that it was better for my hair because I have been continously dyeing it and that it would probably last longer then a permanent as brown permanents fade really quick on me. My hair is really nice and glossy so I am happy with it atm I am just hoping that it will fade nicely. Far less money to spend & it's pretty hard to f**k up using a semi definitly agree with this. You can get a good salon quality semi from petra or other hair shops. They cost a lot less than $100 Answer: Can you imagine what would happen to the ends of your hair if you had permanant dye on it every six weeks? that's why..
