Hi all! I have been presribed this Hemocyte Plus ( it is for
Iron/Hemocrit low levels) I'm always leery of iron tabs - and this one
is taken 3 x day. Expecting some stomach yucks :| and won't need to
poop for 2 weeks or so! ***Anyone taking this med before and like

Hi, Hemocyte Plus uses Ferros Fumarate iron. That type of iron
doens't oxidize in the stomach, like ferros sulfate does. Also, the
Hemocyte Plus should come in a capsule, that will take care of any
problems with a metal after taste. Also, you really don't need to
take it but once a day. The human body can only absorb about 150 mg of
iron in a 24hr time frame. The Hemocyte Plus capsules give you about
106 mgs of elemental iron per capsule. Just remember to NOT take
it within about 2.5 hrs of taking any calcium, that means milk too.
The calcium will adhere to the iron and prevent the body from
absorbing both the calcium and the iron. The bottom line is this..
This is the best form of the best iron supplement that you can take.
There are virtually no complaints from patients about GI upset for
constipation with this medication. Your H/H results should rise in
about 10 days or so. I hope this helps... :D
