exercise and prolapse
Question:
I started a running and weight lifting program several weeks ago, which was a lot more vigorous than my earlier exercise program. I started feeling pressure in my bladder, and my GP told my I have a cystocele (bladder prolapse into the vagina, a kind of hernia) probably caused by the running. I feel really irritated by this, because I thought exercise was making me *healthier* not causing my organs to collapse! Now I'm not sure whether I should continue my exercise program. ANyone know?
Answer:
I wouldn't think your condition would be caused by your running but rather from the weight lifting. How many pounds do you lift? I would see a Gynecologist and get an opinion regarding treatment before I would keep up that particular exercise program. Walking would be an option for you if you feel the need to stay active while you get things sorted out.
