Hey Guest, how are you doing?

Treatment is intelligent neglect or asprin or some sedative such as penobarbital (15 mgs or 4 times daily). For severe cases, salt should be excluded for several days before the expected onset of the menstrual flow, plus taking of a mild diuretic.

Premenstrual tension occurs a week to ten days prior to menstruation and ends a few hours after the commencement of flow. The cause is not fully understood, although Dyspareunia (painful sexual intercourse either contributes to or results from it.

The significant signs are irritability, nervousness, mild to severe headache, emotional changes, occasionally pain in the breasts and puffiness of the body, more often around the abdomen but else where as well. The symptom has some connection with the salt in the body causing a retention of water in the tissues.

If there is no other symptoms, this is a minor disorder. If there is bleeding between menstrual periods, a physican should be consulted at once.

Pain is not a common symptom. Occasionally it is encountered at puberty and during the early months of taking the contraceptive "pill."

In the first few months of pregancy there may be a tingling in breasts rather than pain. In breast cancer pain is a rare sign.

If there is any reason to think you might have breast cancer, you may need other tests. After asking you some questions and doing a complete physical exam (including a clinical breast exam), your doctor may suggest further tests i.e. CT scan (computed tomography), chest x-ray, or PET scan (positron emission tomography).
