Hair changing color?
Question:
While showering I noticed the hair underneath my testicles had changed
to red (from brown) and had become very brittle and greasy. I can see
nothing wrong with the skin, there is no pain etc. But the hair brakes
very easily and light to dark red. Hair color has changed nowhere else
on my body. At first I thought it was something on the hair, like
blood, but I couldn't find any scracthes or anything like that, and
the color could not be washed away. Any ideas on what this could be?
Some type of fungus or something? I wash the region well daily.

Answer:
Hey Anonymous, how are you doing?

The maximum prescription strength is 4% hydroquinone, which contains twice the amount of active ingredient as over-the-counter bleaches. Ask your physician about skin bleaching medications and whether one is right for treating your hyperpigmented skin patches.

Normal skin color is formed by melanin, a natural pigment that also determines eye and hair color. The appearance of skin patches that are darker that the surrounding skin color is usually caused by natural body processes, and sometimes by external causes.

Usually people seek treatment for hyperpigmentation because it is cosmetically displeasing to them. Hyperpigmentation is not a medically harmful condition.

Prisoner: Look here, doctor! You've already removed my spleen, tonsils, adenoids, and one of my kidneys. I only came to see if you could get me out of this place!

Doctor: I am, bit by bit.
