Semen life span...
Question:
I just recently had sex for the first time. I'm 19. I used protection and everything but I'm still paranoid that the girl could get pregnant. After we were finished I took off the condom and fingered her (sorry to be explicit). I'm worried because I felt a little stickiness on my fingers before I did it. I don't know if it was semen, or just residue from the condom, or from being inside of her. It wasn't a lot of stickiness and it didn't seem white to me. I'm just wondering if it was a little bit of semen if she could get pregenant or if semen dies after being exposed to air. Any feedback I would be very thankful for.
Answer:
Hey Guest, how are you doing?

The bottom-line is, you should not have sex before you are ready for the consequeces. I am sure that that is a decision that you will not regret.

Foams, condoms, and diaphrams, which prevent the sperm from reaching the female genital tract, have the advantage of not interfering with normal physiology and thus are accompanied by negligible side effects and complications. However, the relatively high failure rate make these methods less ideal.

How long sperm can live in the open-air depends on the situation, what kind of environment it's in and how much sperm is present. But, on average, sperm can't live for much longer than a few hours in the open-air.

It's important to remember that if sperm is inside a women's body, it can survive for up to seven days. If you think that sperm may have come into contact with your vagina within the last five days, and you don't want to get pregnant, you should seek advice on emergency contraception as soon as possible.
