A Story & Some Help
Question:
Just thought I would post something a little about me in order to possibly help others. After being diagnosed with diabetes, I became what some would call a "health fanatic." I went to all of the GNC stores and their claims to their products were not actually backed up by the its results. About 3 months ago, I came across a nutrition company named Veriuni. It has done wonders for me. I hope that they can help others the way that they have helped me. I'll write the website link on the bottom. To all of those out there with diabetes: Never give up, never stop fighting, you can beat it.

That is a thinly disguised commercial ad :(

Diabetes is one of the most studied, and well understood diseases we suffer with, and treat. It's a purely numbers game, that is won by education and understanding -- and then BEHAVING. The disease is treated by KNOWLEDGE and adherence to a time-tested plan, not by fads or shortcuts that can lead to blindness, heart disease, vascular disease or neuropathies.

Diabetic diets are well planned, well thought out, and have been keeping people alive for decades. With or without insulin, the *proper* care and treatment of diabetes is KNOWLEDGE, frequent/regular doctor visits for monitoring, and following your own blood sugars. Today that is quick and easy, and a 3-4 time a year monitoring blood test can confirm both your testing, and your compliance and combatting of the disease.

Health supplements, of any sort, are not needed unless a specific deficiency is discovered or needs to be treated. That goes for EVERYONE, diabetic or not. BALANCED MEALS are the best "health foods" and "diet supplements" there are!

Proper diet, exercise (yes, exercise!) and a KEEN interest in your disease will do more for you to keep you healthy than even regular doctor visits.

New discoveries in diabetes have shown how important overall metabolism is, and that means MODERATE exercise (not sitting on the couch - but not jogging or tennis either) and weight control. Proper medication (prescribed by a KNOWLEDGEABLE physician) and proper diet are the daily keys.

There is no trick to treating diabetes. It's purely "by the numbers."

The more interest the diabetic takes in their disease, and how it works and affects THEM, the better and healthier they are.

A very small percentage of people have a "brittle" or difficult to control disease. Those people work closely with their doctors to keep it under control.

Today, people live long, healthy ACTIVE lives with diabetes, and it's not due to any "health foods", and especially NOT due to any brand of "supplements".

You are better off spending your money on fresh fruits and vegetables than "health supplements" and buying a leaner cut of meat will do more for you in the long run.

There are no shortcuts. You battle the disease every day. Every time you cheat, or "be bad" the disease makes another advance. The way you "win" is by keeping the beast at bay for as long as possible, and not letting it sneak up on you.

Watching your calories and sugars, monitoring your sugars (graphing them!), and keeping them in the normal range is what matters. A long, healthy life is possible, and probable!
