blood in stool - sports injury or something else ?
Question:
Hey everyone. Well, i got this problem having blood when i defecate. It seems like the blood sort of "drip" and made the bowl red. I thought it was gonna go away in a couple of days, but it's a day shy from a week. What happenned is that my MTB brake lever somehow thrust me right on my side when i was cleaning the bike and tried to stand up. it barely left any mark until a couple of days where i can see the bluish bruise. the position is kinda like above my hip/ waist almost paralel to my belly button. I dunno if that's the cause and i dunno what internal organ that got affected by that thrust. It was not a high speed impact at all. Should i be worried or see a doctor right away or should i wait a couple more days. also could be an infection with any kind of parasite ? Thx !
Answer:
Hey Guest, how are you doing?

The passage of maroon stools or bright red blood from the rectum is usually indicative of massive lower gastrointestinal (GI) hemorrhage. (1) The major risk of acute hemorrhage in the lower gastrointestinal tract is irreversible intestinal ischemia (deficient supply of blood to a body part (as the heart or brain) that is due to obstruction of the inflow of arterial blood). (2)

The Gastrointestinal Tract
