Question:
I have had to us an IV for several years and I have dark scars where
I've had to use an the IV, what would be a good way to reduce or
remove these scars?
Answer:
Hey Josh714, how are you doing?
Azelaic acid AZELEX (Allergan) is
nontoxic and is well tolerated by most subjects. However, those with
very sensitive skin or who suffer from eczema, may find it irritating
to apply, resulting in a mild irritant dermatitis.
Azelaic acid
also helps reduce pigmentation, so it's particularly useful for darker
skinned patients whose acne spots leave persistent brown marks or who
have melasma.
Some improvement should be seen after one month of
using azelaic acid cream. Benign lentigines can also be faded with
careful sun protection and regular applications of anti-aging creams
containing hydroquinone, or antioxidants (e.g. alpha hydroxy acids,
vitamin-C, retinoids, and azelaic acid).

cream should be applied to the area affected, please visit New Zealand
Dermatological Society Incorporated.
Best wishes,
