Answer:
Hey ufc211, how are you doing? If a cyst becomes painful, it may be
infected. Treatment may include antibiotics or removal of the cyst.
Cysts under the skin are benign, extremely common, and may develop as
a result of infection, clogging of sebaceous glands, developmental
abnormalities or around foreign bodies. Lumps may also be produced by
enlargement of the lymph nodes secondary to bacterial infections,
viral infections, antigenic stimulation (as from vaccinations), and
malignancy. Cyst that has a purplish discoloration which could mean
there was some sort of hemorrhaging going on. Cyst removal procedures
have been described are safe and effective; however, complications can
occur. Septic shock, for example, has been reported after drainage
of a Bartholin gland abscess. Other potential complications include
excessive bleeding, cellulitis and dyspareunia. Best wishes,

I'm a female so I hope you don't mind me answering your question.
Your cyst probably will not go away on its own. Some reabsorb but
because yours is increasing in size, it will either remain that size
or continue to grow. See a general surgeon who can excise it in the
office completely and very simply. This can be done in the office. He
will inject the area with a local anesthetic, make a small incision
around the cyst and will remove it completely. A couple of sutures and
you'll be done.
