important question
Question:
My boyfriend is 22 and noticed a very small pebble like ball in his
groin area underneath the skin. It's located right where your crease
would be if you sit down. I felt it and it feels like a tiny loose
pebble floating around. He said it only hurts alittle when you push on
it, but he is very worried. There is no redness, dry skin or swelling
around the area. He is going to the doctor but i just wanted to get
some opinions...I thought it might be a cyst and told him to put heat
on it. Any ideas on what this COULD be? thx!!

Answer:
Hey Dymondgirl, how are you doing? Treating a groin strain involves
restricting activity for 4-6 weeks, using Motrin or Advil for pain,
and applying ice packs the first 24-48 hours after injury, and warm
heat thereafter. Once a patient is diagnosed with a symptomatic
inguinal hernia, operative repair is usually recommended. Most
people will experience some level of discomfort associated with the
hernia, which only increases with time. They may present themselves
early in life when an infant cries, strains, and coughs or they may go
unnoticed until the hole becomes large enough that tissue may protrude
through it. A hernia that become strangulated (tightly constricted)
can cause gangrene and lead to death. Often this condition is
unnoticed and is only discovered by routine examination of the
Physician. Best wishes,

Answer:
You are probably right in thinking that it is a cyst. It isn't a
hernia if it is moving around like that. Let us know what the doctor
says.
