or do anyone hv any experience to share?

Answer:

how many days u intended to go?
i heard from my senior that it's one of her most memorable trip.. backpacking with her mates..
since u're a guy.. u dun have to worry lorz.. but girls have to be careful lahz..

Answer:

Learn the basics of spanish, french and italian. Enough to get you around and make simple conversation. They have very conservative thinking on the usage of languages. And 99.9% of them either don't understand english or refuse to speak to you, yes, they'll refuse to answer you!
If you're on a budget trip, online bookings and reservation is a must. Can save you 50-60% especially on ground transport, lodging and air tics. Do it a month ahead and save your overhead.
Get a mobile phone, it'll come in handy. Charges are usually fixed and not really expensive and you'll get to bring back the new mobile haha..
If you have decided which country to go, i strongly recommend a reading of lonely planet's series.
If haven't decide, i'll suggest you should not miss london, barcelona, milan, paris, vienna..and stay at least a week each.

i think my 2k budget not enuff ;(
if really not enuff, i will go on a asian tour instead

Answer:

if i got enough budget left i join u ba.. let me noe the detail then.. was thinking of saving enough till 2007 then go on a back pack b4 i continue studies or work..

Answer:

Sorry, haven't been to either of the 3 places. But planning sometime in the near future hence read alot bout these places. My travels were limited to US and asian at the moment for certain reasons(not terrorists haha). And sad to break the news, 2k isn't enough, perhaps just enough to cover air and ground travelling. We'll really lose out on exchange rates and differing cost of living.

Answer:

njh: lolz yeah tts wot i found out >.< 2k really not enuff :~( maybe not enuff for air tickets even haizz
Biker`: ok.. i will be most probably going after mid april ^^

u should plan to go for a 4 week tour so that u can cover more areas
and 2k also not enough sia.. i heard from my senior that she spent like 8k (on a super budget)? but her daddy sponsored lahz.

Answer:

the cheapest direct flight to france is $1.1k - air france , $1.6k - SIA
to London - $1.4 k British always
For transit @ KL is around $900 , unknown flight ..
the bullet train from london to france is SG$100-200
the fast food in europe is twice compare to SG .. Euro to SG = double
So u go do your calculation .. is not cheap.
I am trying to plan one .. before my uncle coming back from france ..

Answer:

When are you going? I'm now in Paris... you have to see where are you starting from. Apply for an ISC card. Then you can book hostels etc online at a cheaper price. You must book and do your planning waaaaaaaaaay in advance because if you're getting around EU by budget transport, their price varies from day to day in huge amounts. Last month, for a Rome to Venice trip by plane (2 way) was only 20 euro including tax and stuff. IIRC, there is a train card that allows you to travel everywhere but its like 200 - 400 euro or something that is if you're doing major travelling. For the museums etc, you must ask the local because there are student rates and special days where you can get in for free. Like in Paris, the Lourve is free every Friday from 6 - 10 pm and every 1st Sunday of the month is museum day. So, you got to do A LOT of research. Your ISE card also gives you discount for those tourist places so it should save you some cash. Anyway, after some time, you'll realize that Europe is full of cathedrals and it looks the similar so you stop going in and simply take pics outside instead.
I absolutely love Paris but thats being bias on my part. Spain - Barcelona is beautiful but the people are really loud and kinda arrogant. Belgium -Brussels have great chocolate and you can do a 1 day trip there because there's nothing much. Will be planning Normandy, London, Dublin etc next for my Spring break.
You can view some pix here (Spain/Paris) though I have yet to upload everything:
I took Emirates to Paris with a stopover at Dubai and it cost about SGD$1060 because I got a special price. As for language barrier, if you're in the major cities like Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Milan... there will be people who speak anglais but not in the other smaller towns though. But if you knowa bit of any EU language like français, it should help since most of them are of latin influence and are pretty similar. But language is definitely a barrier. Better get those language for dummies guide book and some maps etc. Spain was really easy to move around because the cityis in square blocks but Paris might be a problem initially because its pretty confusing and the metro lines are fwah!
Good luck & Have fun!
