mrrobert, try going to Northbridge for clubbing. Not very sure for the exact happening club for i dont club now. But thats the area many uni students get together and chill out at night.
if you want nice tim sum in the morning try:
-Hoi's Kitchen (Dim Sum) Tea House, 195 William Street, Northbridge 6003
During weekends, will be quite crowded, so be prepared to wait outside for about 15mins at least.
Do visit Hillary Harbour and also King's Park for the nice sceneries.
And if you have time, do drive up to taste the World's Best Pizza, really worth the trip if you have time. They serve very tasty pizzas and so much better than pizza hut's ones:

If you like to shop for Nike and Fila sports goods, you can go to Harbour Town located near to the city as they have both their factory outlets located there. Just a reminder, do pop by their admin office to grab a tourist discount card for additional saves!!

mrrobert, if you happen to be at Swan Valley, Margaret River Chocolate Factory is there. And theres this Oggies Ice Cream selling home made icecream. Along swan valley, there are many wineries open for free wine tasting and some others for cheese tasting too.
Check out Jester Pies and Miss Maud's pastries. Concas at Northbridge serves good chilli mussels, think its somewhere near the old church.
Tim Tams chocolates are quite famous in Aussie. Pods chocolates too. They can be bought at most supermarket!
Well, last but not least, remember to bring moisturiser and sun screen with you during your holidays.

How to get the tourist card:
Go to the admin office, its at ground level, opp the carpark, tell the lady you like to have a tourist discount card. She will then ask you some simple questions and get you to sign on a piece of paper. There you go, you will get the tourist card valid for that day itself.
How big is Northbridge:
To me, its not big, just two stretch of roads. Its kinda like sg's chinatown.
