Answer:

btw, have you guys found any good and cheap places to put up for the night? its alot of trouble for me to go around making reservations as i'm gonna be staying over at quite a few locations such as tokyo, akita, hakodate, sapporo, kyoto.... its started to give me headaches when i think about it.... cus need to calculate budget required for accomodation, food etc etc.... have quite a tight budget of 3.6-4k for 14/15 days...

Answer:

it took me almost $3-4k for a self planned 7-8days trip last year
tokyo hakone kyoto within city
its very ex esp in tokyo esp lodging
i almost got all my lunches from their convenient stores bentos
and try to plan yr trips w their subway stations, day tourist passes r quite cheap if u do travel a lot within city, out of city, their trains r really quite ex too
if u got enuf budget...do try out rokans... really unique exp
but do chk out jtb at taka they got some great packages

Answer:

basically, i found lodgings at $35 sgd per night and quite a number of ryokans offer rooms at 600-800 yen range... food wise, i've calculated around $40 a day budget, as for transportation, i'm getting the 14 day JR pass
