WWE.com has learned that SmackDown Superstar Christian has quit World Wrestling Entertainment.
His contract expired a few days ago and WWE wanted him to sign a new deal on the spot. The latest word is that Christian was in talks with WWE about a new deal but did not like the terms and finally ended up turning the deal down. Christian has been unhappy with how he has been used for awhile now, especially since WWE pushed him near main event status only to drop him back down the card. Some in WWE are apparently surprised that he actually quit. WWE.com has already removed his bio from the Smackdown Superstars page. It also appears as if WWE owns the rights to the name "Christian" for wrestling use, which means Jay Reso (Christian) will need to find a new stage name. It is believed that WWE will address him leaving the company tonight so people don’t think they can vote for him for tomorrow’s Taboo Tuesday PPV.
Christian will have to wait at least 90 days before he would be available to appear on a TNA show. This means there is still plenty of time for the WWE to come back to Christian so that the two could indeed work out some sort of a deal. This is not to say that it would happen by any means. WWE did the same thing with Matt Hardy, giving him what he wanted before he jumped to TNA. The same scenario could play out in the case of Christian. For the time being however, Christian will no longer be working for WWE.

It appears as though this is Christian signing with TNA. As noted on TNAWrestlingNews.com several days ago, Christian does not have a no compete clause. It is rumored a deal was signed in the last several days.
As reported by TNAWrestlingNews.com, when Jay Reso, also known as Christian, debuts for TNA Wrestling, he should be able to continue using the Christian name that he used in WWE. He will not have to rename himself like past WWE superstars (Dudley Boyz, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, etc.) coming to TNA had to do.
The reason for this is he was billed as Christian Cage on the independent circuit early on in his career. At the very worst, WWE will force him to call himself the full Christian Cage name, although that would be somewhat pointless and the good money is he will still be just "Christian." This is very similar to circumstances that surrounded the Honky Tonk Man leaving the World Wrestling Federation years ago and continuing to use that name. The precedent set here was that he was Honky Tonk Wayne in Stampede Wrestling. He was allowed to use the Honky Tonk Man name, then, anywhere he went because he had established the basics of his name and character long before his WWF tenure. It would be the same case with Jay Reso.
One last major point to bring up here is another reason Christian did not resign with WWE. Christian is currently in negotiations for a significant part (what is being reported as a fifth or sixth lead role) in a major movie to be produced by New Line in February. Christian definitely wants the freedom to take this role. He also reportedly wants some free time where he can study acting and prepare for the role. This would be almost impossible to do while still taking part in a full time WWE schedule. The TNA schedule of usually only taping three (2 Impact tapings and a PPV) days a month could fit him well in this regard.

Looks like this "fight" between TNA and WWE is heating up.. TNA will definitely have the upper hand in terms of a good show with quality. On the other hand, reports have shown that WWE is not very stable financially wise this past year... TCS should bring TNA to the locals.. Not that i care since i don't watch much TV, but every week when i watch TNA thru my sources.. i can tell you guys that after watching a TNA Show.. you will definitely want more!
