Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has angrily dismissed rumours that he will join Benfica after Euro 2004.
Scolari called a snap press conference on Tuesday evening to refute reports that an agreement had already been struck with the Lisbon giants, whose former coach Jose Antonio Camacho recently moved to Real Madrid.
"I want to say that if any deal existed, if any agreement could have existed then this agreement has ceased to exist this minute," Scolari said.
"If I don't sign a contract extension with the Portuguese team, or club A, B or C, then I'm still not going to join Benfica.
"Whoever started this rumour is totally out of order," he fumed.
Scolari, who led a victorious Brazil side in the 2002 World Cup, also warnedthe media not to interfere ahead of their opening Euro 2004 match against Greece on Saturday.
"No-one must try and unsettle the work of my players," Scolari continued.
"This is not your job. My life consists of organising my players who are representing you on Saturday against Greece.
"They are not playing for Luiz Felipe the Benfica coach, they are plying for Luiz Felipe the Portugal coach. And I want to fulfil my contract," he said of his current deal which runs until the end of July.
