Answer:

Manchester United will definitely have a Brazilian on their books next season.
Rumours surfaced on Wednesday that United would be signing a 17-year-old midfielder, but United's Academy Director Les Kershaw has put the record straight on the player.
Carlos Eduardo de Castro Lourenco is a tall 16-year-old defender who primarily plays as a right-back, but could develop into a centre-half.
Les told ManUtd.com: "He came over last season for a couple of weeks and he did very, very well. We went about trying to secure his future, which we have now finally done. He plays for Sao Paulo and will continue to play for them, but he is our player.
"The idea would be for him to join Sporting Lisbon when he is 18. It's a long-term project, but he's a very talented boy and we think his best interests are being served."
Manchester United are keen to emphasise the exaggeration of recent reports that suggested the club had formed a partnership with Sao Paulo similar to that of the alliances with the likes of Royal Antwerp, Sporting Lisbon and Walsall amongst others.
"It is not a partnership," Les told us. "But we have made friends with Sao Paulo in this process.
"We hope this will offer further opportunities in the future. Always the first is the most difficult because it's groundbreaking stuff. But Carlos, who is a lovely lad, was identified as a good prospect," Les added.

Answer:

Manchester United are expected to complete the signing of United States goalkeeper Tim Howard on Monday, according to reports.
The Major League Soccer star has been linked with a move to the English champions in recent weeks and it is expected he will complete the transfer in time to join the club on its tour of the United States, which begins in 10 days.
And the BBC reports that former Scotland international Mo Johnston, now an assistant coach with Howard's New York-New Jersey Metro Stars club, has confirmed the deal will take place next week..
'He's a wonderful goalkeeper, tremendously agile, and I'm sure he'll be a success in England,' Johnston told BBC Scotland.
United's interest in Howard is believed to have been cemented following his clean-sheet performance for the US national team in the 0-0 draw against Mexico in Houston on May 8.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson could see Howard as an understudy to ageing French international Fabien Barthez or possibly as a straight replacement for the 32-year-old ahead of the club's two other keepers Roy Carroll and Lopez Felipe Ricardo who failed to convince when they played last season.
