As Expected..Chelsea Lost And Jose Mourinho Excuses..
Question:
Jose Mourinho claimed there is one rule for Chelsea and one for the rest of football after his team slumped to a rare Barclays Premiership defeat.
Fulham beat the Blues 1-0 but Mourinho was fuming because referee Mike Dean appeared to award his team an equaliser and then rule it out for handball.
Didier Drogba clearly touched the ball with his hand in the build-up but Mourinho thinks Dean changed his mind under pressure from Fulham players.
Mourinho said: 'There are 19 managers and clubs plus one. There are not 20 in the same table. I cannot speak about the referee. I have to control myself.
'I've seen it on TV and I know it's a handball but the referee didn't see and gave a goal, and the linesman didn't see and also gave a goal.
'After that they couldn't resist to the pressure of Fulham players and that's a big problem.'
Dean claimed his linesman Paul Norman had alerted him by pressing the buzzer which helps officials stay in contact during the game.
Norman did not raise his flag because the referee was closer to the incident and he thought he may have seen Drogba handle the ball.
Fulham boss Chris Coleman insisted he saw the handball immediately but feared the officials had missed it.
Coleman said: 'I saw the handball but whether or not the linesman saw it, I don't know.
'It was given and then taken away and the same thing happened to us at Arsenal last year when we were given a penalty and it was taken away. So I understand Chelsea's frustration. But to be honest I don't care.'
Mourinho's sense of injustice is fuelled because Chelsea have been charged with failing to control their players, when they protested to the referee during a game against West Brom.
The Chelsea boss said: 'In similar situations there's one measure for Chelsea and another measure for other teams.
'If it's a Chelsea player, the Chelsea manager or Chelsea football club, there's no doubt about it.
'At West Brom I have the final proof about that. Bryan Robson is Bryan Robson and Jose Mourinho is Jose Mourinho. We are not the same.'
Luis Boa Morte scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute to sink Chelsea to their third defeat of the league season.
Mourinho had started the day by denying reports that he was set to walk out on Chelsea for Inter Milan at the end of the season.
He made two changes midway through the first half in a bid to inspire his team but they could not find an equaliser.
The Blues also had William Gallas sent off in the dying minutes, for a nasty challenge on Heidar Helguson. It was Chelsea's third red card in six games.
Mourinho said: 'Of course I'm disappointed. A defeat is a defeat even if you don't deserve the defeat.
'We don't deserve the defeat but it's a defeat. We have zero points out of this game so I'm not happy.
'They deserved to be in front but the last hour and especially the last 45 we dominate and create and deserve a different result.
'If we had got to 1-1 we would have won the game but we didn't.
'They fought a lot and defended a lot and tried in many ways to reduce the time of the game.
'Instead of 45 minutes, they tried to play 20 or 25. They were clever the way they put pressure on the referee and linesman and they got a result that gives them safety in the Premiership.'
Fulham fans invaded the pitch after the final whistle, sparking scenes of ugly confrontation with Chelsea supporters who also broke through the barricades.
Mourinho said: 'If something happened I am disappointed. We have unbelievable fans and I feel sorry for them because we didn't get the result.
'They always support us in a great way. I hope they are unhappy with the result but they can control themselves.
'I also hope Fulham know how to win. I know this is not something that happens a lot for them but I hope they can interpret the big victory in a good way and respect Chelsea people.'
Coleman said: 'I'm told there was a bit of trouble and there were one or two idiots on the pitch. There's no place for idiots at Fulham.'
