Liverpool still keen on swoop for Agger
LIVERPOOL are set to reopen their interest in Brondby's Daniel Agger as Rafael Benitez seeks a swift resolution to his search for a new central defender in January.
The club were interested in bringing the 20-year-old to Anfield this summer but despite Benitez desperately seeking cover for Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia at the back, no deal materialised.
But with Benitez eager to atone for what he has admitted were the "mistakes" in not ensuring a centre-back and a right-sided player signed before the transfer deadline in August, moves are already underway to ensure there is no repeat of that frustration when the window opens again in the New Year.
Brondby would be prepared to let their star player go for around 8million euros (£5.5m), according to coach Michael Laudrup.

Newspaper reports today claim that Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Danish international defender Daniel Agger.
The 21-year-old has been mooted as an option for some time now so the reports don't come as a surprise, if true. We tried to recruit him in the summer but the £6million asking price set by Brondby put an end to our interest at the time.
It is reported that Brondby have lowered the asking price by £1million which will require further negotiation if Liverpool are to sign the centre-back.

Valencia striker Marco Di Vaio is a wanted man, speculation that Spurs and Liverpool were preparing bids for the striker during the January transfer window, have been over shadowed, by Inter professing that they are indeed interested in bringing the striker back to Italy.
Di Vaio’s agent is said to have been contacted by Spurs and Liverpool, and while his client would prefer a return to Italy he refused to rule out a move to the Premiership, despite several reports to the contrary.
Di Vaio has been informed that he will be made available in January and that he is no longer part of coach Quique Flores plans for the future. Inter could also face competition from Parma who have also expressed an interest.
