Well, it's not Owen's fault. Carlos Alberto misunderstood some news report which said that Owen boasted that he'll score 5 goals against Azerbaijan and equal Malcom MacDonald's record for most number of goals in an international match for England. Apparently, his viewpoint is grossly distorted. Owen never said such a thing. He just misunderstood the reporters' speculation. All these talk of Owen breaking a record is largely due to the fact that Azerbaijan getting trashed 8-0 by Poland in their previous match and Owen's good run of form of late.
I bet Carlos Alberto will be very embarrassed and the footballing world amused by his antics.
