Chelsea would accept Barca offer for Jimmy: Agent
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's agent today claimed that Chelsea are prepared to sell their star striker.
And the Dutch international re-iterated his desire to play for the Catalan club after expressing interest in a move to Barcelona yesterday.
Hasselbaink's agent, Humphrey Nijman, said: 'The only thing that is publicly known is that if there was an appropriate offer then Chelsea would sell him. It is obvious that if a team like Barcelona are interested, then any player would be interested in listening. But there has to be an official approach first.'
The Catalan giants have made no secret of their desire to sign Hasselbaink and are believed to have made an offer of £10 million for him, plus Michael Reizeger, earlier this month.
Chelsea need to raise at least £10m to steady their finances and have been attempting, without success, to offload some of their high wage earners who are not first team regulars this summer.
And Hasselbaink said he was desperate to move to the Nou Camp: `If Barca sign me, I would not even pack my suitcase, I would come in what I was wearing'.
The Dutchman was quoted in the Barcelona-based newspaper, El Mundo Deportivo, as describing a possible transfer to the Spanish club as the `move of a lifetime'.
He added: `For the time being these are only rumours, but I am flattered that a club like Barca thinks of me.
`If the transfer is done, I could bring strength, many goals, hard work and a lot of motivation. I am eager to win titles and I am seduced by the Champions League.
`Barcelona and (coach) Louis van Gaal also want trophies and dream of the Champions League, we all want the same.'
Hasselbaink, 30, appears particularly keen to link up again with van Gaal, who came back to the Nou Camp this summer and was previously Holland coach.
`He is a coach that believed in me as national manager of Holland,' added Hasselbaink.
`He was the first one that allowed me to play seven or eight matches consecutively.
