Taking Reductil - Experiencing hot flashes?
Question:
Hello, I'm taking Reductil to help lose weight and it has been
working pretty well. I just keep experiencing hot flashes though and
wondered if anyone else had the same experiences with Reductil while
taking it. Also, if anyone has had good weight loss results from
taking Reductil, please let me know as well. Thanks in advance,
Cheers Margaret F. Maryland

Answer:
Hey Guest, how are you doing?

The most common side effects include insomnia, constipation, a dry mouth and small increases in blood pressure. However, other side effects that may occur with taking this medicine include hot flashes or leg cramps (if they continue or are bothersome, check with your Doctor).

Secondly, most people who lose weight on Reductil (Meridia) lose it in the first 6 months of
treatment. Scientific studies that lasted one year have shown that many people who lost weight and remained on Reductil (Meridia) therapy maintained their weight loss. Every person will respond differently to Reductil (Meridia) when used as part of a comprehensive weight loss
program.

You may be able to lose 4 or more pounds of body weight in the first month you take Reductil (Meridia). If you find that you do not lose at least 4 pounds during the first month, you should
notify your doctor so he or she can re-evaluate your situation.

Your doctor may wish to change your dose of Reductil (Meridia). For excellent patient education resources, visit eMedicine's
