Tri-Sprintec
Question:
I just switched to Tri-Sprintec after using Otho Tri-Cyclen for 6
years. It's the new generic. I've been on it for one week, and
suddenly I've been breaking out with hives. Has anyone else
experienced this with this medication?

Answer:
Hi tory, I've been using Tri-Sprintec for a few months now. I haven't
experienced anything like you mention, but I did get some hot flashes
when I switched. My primary said it was quite possibly the switch from
one birth control to the other... I haven't gotten any more after a
week or so being on them. You might ask the doctor if they have any
documentation on it. It could be just a simple allergic reaction, but
always safe to check into it further. Thanks Liz. O

Answer:
I am about to take tri-sprintec, and I was just wondering if anyone
has had any serious weight gain, because I'm going to be getting
married in a few months, and gaining weight is the last thing I need
on my mind.

Answer:
i started this tri sprintec two weeks ago and i like it so far. the
first 3-4 days i was nauseated but now i am fine. i do have a little
spotting here and there but i had a baby eight weeks ago and nursed
for 6 weeks so not sure if the pill's causing the spotting. so far so
good

Answer:
today is my second day on the pill, tri sprintec. Last night i got hot
flashes and dry heaved for about an hour on and off. Ive never been on
any other pill, and I freak out easily, I hope its normal and wont
last long.

Answer:
My daughter's doctor prescribed Ortho Tri-Cyclen since she has
unusually heavy and long cycles. My daughter's 14 and the doctor felt
a 3 month run of it could help regulate her. Also, the effect it has
on acne was considered an additional benefit. However, upon reaching
home, (I know...I should have checked before leaving the pharmacist)
we noticed her prescription ws for Tri-Sprintec. Does this have the
"acne"benefit as well?

Answer:

just switched to tri sprintec,i use to take tri nessa and i did not
have any problem with it.

Answer:
If you experience
any of the following serious side effects, stop taking the birth
control pills and seek emergency medical attention or contact your
doctor immediately: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing;
closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or
hives)

Answer:
Hi...I started Tri-sprintec about 6 months ago and I am noticing that
I am starting to grow hair on my face and chest. I was on
orthotricyclen for 6 years before that and never had a problem. My
insurance refuses to pay for the name brand because they claim it is
the same. Is this normal or has anyone else had these problems?

Answer:
I just started taking tri-sprintec. Come Sundy it will be my second
week on it. Latley, I've been having those hot flashes as some of you
have described already...along with some weird yellow, foul discharge
and feel bloated a lot especially when it's hot and as far as hives
and rash go I had that the first week, but it seems to be going away
and I did feel itchy for awhile but thats gone too. I hope the bloat
goes away soon. Anyone else feel this way?

Answer:
i was on ortho-tri-cyclen for about 3 years and loved it. it
completely cleared up my acne, regulated heavy periods and eliminated
cramps. about 3 months ago my pharmacist switched me to the generic
tri-sprintec and i have been experiencing depression, mood swings,
spotting between periods, swelling breasts, and some acne. i wasn't
sure of the cause until read on other websites that women have
experienced problems with generics. i'm going to try and switch back
to the ortho-tri-cyclen that i loved asap.

Answer:
Hi, I am 32 and never really had a
weight problem and I just started this pill. I had been on other pills
before and never had a weight problem til I took the tri-sprintec. I
am tring to get to the bottom of this I think I need a low dose pill
but try to tell a doctor that they don't lisen.Has anyone out there
had this problem to and what did you do.

Answer:
I am 16 and my mother wanted me to go on birth control since my
boyfriend and i have been together for three years now and the sex
topic has become an issue..The first time i took tri-sprintec it was
for my Horrible cycles, and i started Sunday start. Now(about a year
later) Im going back on it so that i dont become pregnant;HOWEVER, i
thought i could start any day so i began on the Tuesday after my
period, only now to carefully read the instructions that seem to say
you should only start on the Sunday after or on the first day of your
period. Does anyone know if i am still fertile or if i should stop
taking the pills?? I cant ask my mom, shes stressed enough already....

Answer:
I have been on tri-sprintec for 10 months and just recently noticed
that I was developing facial hair. I thought this was odd so I did a
little research on Tri-sprintec (the only medicine that I am on) and
found I am not the only one with this side effect! Little did I know
I have been experiencing two other side affects over the last 10
months. I have been unusually exhausted, even after a good night's
rest. I have also experienced "continuous" periods...meaning, I would
have a short period and then spot (dark brown) for the rest of the
entire month. After a several months of this, I went back to my doctor
and made sure nothing else was wrong. There wasn't. My speculation
is that my body is reacting adversely to this medicine since I have
not experienced any of these simptoms for extended periods of time as
I have since starting this medicine 10 months ago.

Answer:
I just switched pharmacies, and my new one gave me Tri-Sprintec for
the first time this month. I had been on Ortho for 5 years, and then
Trinessa for about a year. I found that Trinessa was actually pretty
great (in fact, my acne cleared right up on Trinessa, more so than on
Ortho). But I'm half-way through Tri-Sprintec and it is AWFUL. I'm
gaining weight faster than I could imagine AND I exercise and eat as
much as I always have, and I'm normally a very little girl who always
stays the same weight. Also, I've been oozing brownish spotting fluid
for a week now and I'm constantly tired and groggy. I REALLY recommend
against this generic. It is seriously making me crazy--I'm thinking of
calling my doctor to stop this pack altogether and start up on
Trinessa again next time around. Yes, I would forgo sex just to get
off this horrible generic!
