Crestor
Question:
why does it say in little print on their comercial "crestor has not been shown to prevent heart attacks" if you do not believe me for whatever reason look at the bottom of the screen at the small print on their comercials. please answer this question, I'm really curious.if crestor does not prevent or heart attacks why on earth would we take it? this is actually a real medical question so I hope you will please answer smithn or any other moderators Answer: Crestor isn't prescribed for use in preventing heart attacks. Crestor is an enzyme blocker that is to be used with proper dieting, to help lower fats and cholesterol in the bloodstream. Reducing cholesterol can reduce your chances of having a heart attack but does not prevent you from having one. That's the difference. Whether you should try Crestor should be based on your medical history and condition, your current medications, and sensitivities to certain therapies/drugs. Like any other drug, Crestor has its side effects. However, if all other treatments have not been effective at lowering your cholesterol, then the benefits of taking Crestor far outweigh the side effects. Answer: Hey Guest, how are you doing? That is a very good question. Basically, a heart attack happens when there is a sudden loss of blood and oxygen to your heart - this can not be prevented by Crestor. [1] High cholesterol is only one factor that contributes to this. [1], [3], and [4] A diet high in choloeserol combined with smoking and lack of exercise can also accelerate this process. [1], [3], and [4] Crestor controls the body's ability to produce cholesterol. [1] and [3] This in turn can not prevent the cholesterol and calcium from growing, depositing gradually in the walls of the coronary arteries with advancing age - known as atherosclerosis or "hardening of the arteries" - the more you have, the greater your risk. [1] Please, do not give up faith in this synthetic lipid-lowering agent, however. Since its birth, Simvastain (Zocor [the first drug]) was shown to reduce the total death rate by reducing LDL concentrations in people with coronary heart disease (Crestor® and Rosuvastain [are the latest] and has been particularly effective in lowering very high cholesterol levels or when cholesterol has not been decreased with other drugs by 20 - 60%. [1], [3], and [4] Hope this answers your question,
