Lipitor cripples
Question:
I didn't see anything about Lipitor on this forum and thought I would
tell of my husband's experience. He was on a small dose for several
years, had steadily worsening hip, leg and sciatic pain and doctor
said he may need a hip replacement at age 53. We went on a 10-day
vacation and he forgot his Lipitor. He noticed after a few days that
his hip did not hurt and his leg pain had lessened considerably. The
light bulb, however, did not come on until we returned from vacation
and he started a heavier dose recommended by his doctor. It was as if
he had been hit by a truck, ached all over and could barely get of of
bed. We immediately stopped the Lipitor and some of the pain has
abated. We started Co Q 10, the enzyme to the muscles that Lipitor
blocks. We are now awaiting the results of a CPK test to determine if
there is muscle damage. Some peope can take this statin, but many
others have permanent nerve damage because their doctors refused to
admit Lipitor was the problem. If you are on this drug and have pain
anywhere do yourself a favor and google Lipitor + pain. It is
frightening.

Answer:
Did your husband discuse with the doctor the pain he was experiencing after beginning the lipitor. If your husband brought the concern up during follow up examinations the doctor should have taken note. Especially because the possibility of this occuring is noted in the drug information the company has available. Also just curious to know if the Doctor did liver function tests while your husband was on this medication?
