Tri-Previfem same as Tri-Sprintec
Question:
Opened my new 90 day supply of pills this evening and realized they sent me a different kind of generic for Ortho Tri-cyclene. Had been taking Tri-Sprintec for 6 months and that seemed to be fine for me. Anyone had experience with Tri-Previfem...which evidently I will be starting tonight? Very annoying they switched this without alerting me!!!
Answer:
However, there should not be any major complications in switching between oral contraceptives. Some women do and when they do they suffer migraine headaches.

The difference is in the synthetic compounds of estrogen and progesterone. For example, in Yasmin®, Ethinyl estradiol is the estrogen and drospirenone is the progestin. In Alesse Ethinyl estradiol is an estrogen and levonorgestrel is a progestin.

If you notice anything different about the way your body reacts to these two medications, contact your doctor right away. Be sure to use another form of protection in the first 2 - 3 months after switching oral contraceptives and condoms to prevent infections e.g. AIDS/HIV.

Hope this answers your question,
