How long now!
Question:

Hi, ijust wondered how long we have to go now! My little Millie is in her first Season and is just two weeks into it. She has stopped her discharge, but is now teasing the dog next door by standing with her back to the (impenitrable ) fence. Does anyone know when she will finish and how will I know. I spray her when I take her out, which does help, but I shall be glad when it is over. Thank You

Answer:

now is about the most dangerous time and you should be very careful, the dog next door may not stop at anything to get at her and she will be very willingshe will be like this for at least a week and then should start to go off heat. i wouldnt let her off the lead when you take her out coz all the spray in the world wont help if she sees a dog, coz bitches are right tarts when in season. good luck.

Answer:

Now is the time to keep her well away from dogs! I've had a girl mated and get pregnant on day 20! Don't turn your back on her for a second, it's not only the dog that is keen to mate, she will be too!

Answer:

I would say the same as above and add, that I would be careful for another week or two..

Answer:

Thank you all, I do keep Millie on the lead at ALL times. Also she can not get into the next garden but we watch her whenever she goes out. But I have taken on board all of your advice and am greatful for your help. What a great website this is. It's a real Gem! Thank You.

Answer:

I agree with the others another two weeks to be sure, can I just add you would be amazed the lengths a dog will go to in order to get at a bitch I have seen a schnauzer dog scale a 7ft impenetrable fence with ease to escape and reach a bitch

Answer:

Thank Goodness the dog next door is a Yorkie. But he is very resourceful so I am watching them like a hawk. We have a cat flap in the door to the garden (My old cat died last year). Millie can get through with no problems. She is learning how to move the cover so that when I put it on to stop her she can move it up to get out. She is clever, so we have to watch her ike a hawk. Roll on two weeks time!!!!
