Healing Power of Pets
Question:
I'd like to share some of my pet owning experience to fellow genkians here.
As some of you may know, I rear a red-eared terrapin for 10 years and she's still very lively and bubbly pet. To my family, she's a gem. To me, she's not just a pet. But a friend.
You see, she has brought lots of happiness and joy into my life as well as my family members. Though at times she may pooh pooh right after me changing its water in the tank, which makes me frown a little, most of the times, she can crack me up a bit.
When I let her out to walk in my living room, I can always expect her to clumsily walk into a tight corner, or against the wall. Her most awesome trick was to end up on a low-level shoe rack, sitting comfortably there blinking at me. haha.
She may not be able to talk, or make any noise. Just occasional deep breathing. But she has brought lots of warmth in my family. And bonded us closer together.
My mum works rather late sometimes, and worse still, she'd have a bad day in the office. But when she takes a look at my terrapin... and the terrapin itself stretches its neck out of the water to look at my mum .. it seems like its telling her to forget her blues.
Strange as it seems, but my terrapin especially loves the news on TV ! Maybe its because of the bright lights emitted from the tele. She's a rather curious creature.
Well, just a short snippet on how my pet provided warmth and laughter to me and my family. I must also remind all please be responsible to your own pets. Treat them like your very own child. Its saddening to see many abandoned animals around. They are not toys. Treat them nicely, and you will get rewarded.
Remember: a pet is a lifetime commitment.
