What breed is your dog? And what are you currently feeding him with? Any treats? What treats? Any human food?
My boy is currently taking ANF, feeding on some Korea cheese treats. And sometimes, I feed him a little bakguk, pork floss, etc.

I think everyone has highlighted the most obvious reason and that is salt in take. I think there is another expect that you can look into.
Do you comb your dog's hair often? A daily hair combing session not only is able to improve a owner and dog relationship. It also help to clear away all the going-to-drop hairs which will decrease the amount of hair dropped for the rest day. It also helps in the blood circulation of the dog provided you use a suitable dog's comb.
Just a 5 min hair combing session is enough to see a difference. At least its proven for my 3 pervious dogs.

i also think that it's the food. my dog had this problem before. brought him to the vet and he told me to change the food, and it worked. heh.

i have a JRT who sheds pretty badly too.. we tried changing food and it didn't really help.
then my vet suggested this supplement called My Beau. It's a kind of oil and my dog extremely loves it (though i think it smells like those horrible fever syrup we had to take when we were young) and now his hair is much softer and all and doesn't shed as much..
when their fur is too dry, it will lead to excessive shedding as well.. so maybe you would like to give him some supplements.. =)

try not tp feed him with food containing too much salt...my dog( who died due to old age)...had this problem too...and what we did was cut down the intake of salty food and gradually it stopped.

It's pretty cheap.. less than $20 if i never rem wrongly. It's liquid. Basically it's oil. But not all dogs like it coz there's a fishy smell due to its ingredient. But it's cheap and good comparing to velcote..
