Dog Licensing
Question:

Rules
Current HDB rules allow only 1 dog of an approved breed per residential unit. It is an offence under HDB regulation to keep more than one dog of an approved breed
Private premises are allowed to keep up to 3 dogs.
Contravention or failure to comply with any of the following dog licensing conditions is also an offence under the Animals and Birds (Dog Licensing and Control) Rules and can result in the impoundment of the dog, a fine of up to $500, and/or revocation of the dog licence:
• All dogs 3 months or older must be licensed.
• The licence badge must be securely attached by means of a collar to the neck of the dog.
• The licence is valid for 1 year only and must be renewed yearly upon expiry.
• The dog must be on a leash and properly controlled in a public place.
• The dog should not be allowed to stray.
• Dogs should not be allowed to cause a nuisance eg soiling the environment, excessive barking, etc
• A dog of a breed classified as dangerous or potentially dangerous or fierce (Category A and B dogs) must also be muzzled and leased in a public place.
• Additional licensing conditions must be imposed and existing licensing conditions and fees may be subject to change by AVA at any time.
CAWC is to be informed if:
• there is a change in ownership (Please attach photocopy of NRIC of the new owner where applicable).
• there is a change in address (Please attach photocopy of NRIC reflecting the new addresss where applicable)
• the dog has been lost or has died (Please attach documentary evidence if available)
