Doggie for Adoption (Received by email)
Question:
Hi Everyone
I found this dog on the 6th June. I have advertised in the Classified under Lost & Found, but sadly no one came to claim the dog. I have put it up in my home so far, caged up in the playpen as i have another female dog in my home who's on heat. As this male dog is not sterilised, i have no choice but to lock it up as i don't wish to see my female dog get impregnated.
Anyway, i'm now looking for someone who have enough unconditional love, care and patience to adopt this adorable doggie. He's a white male
Maltese and extremely well-behaved. I've taken it to the vet for a health
check-up and he's clear of diseases. However, his mouth has a very foul fishy smell, like stale fish market, which we suspected, is the reason why he got so cruelly abandoned by its previous owner. He's about 6 years old but look very handsome. As with any typical Malteses, he's got very adorable and trusting eyes when he look at you.
He's currently hyper-salivating due to the condition of his mouth. The vet has assured me that this can be fixed, you need to send him for a procedure call "teeth-scaling" which is quite expensive, about S$150. If this doesn't work, you might need to put him on a special diet. Our guess is the previous owner must have fed him rotten food or have not been taking care of his teeth properly. His tongue is also inflamed and so are his paws.
I noticed some blood stains from his paws on the newspapers. When i found him, he has two lines of tear stains on his face, which indicates that he has been crying a lot. The vet told me that he must be in a lot of pain....it broke my heart to hear that.
However, after some care and medication from the vet, he's no longer crying, his mouth smells slightly better with the mouthwash given (although will still need long term care for this) and his paws are healing very slowly. He's a very affectionate dog and also very well-behaved when we are feeding him and tending to his wounds. I cannot afford to keep another dog in my home as i've already got a female dog.
I hope some kind soul out there who's got lots of unconditional love and patience would want to adopt this dog and give him all the love and care he deserves after the cruel treatment that he got that causes his condition now and subsequently being abandoned like that when he's all grown-up and smelly.
I have attached a few pictures here of him and also some close-ups
of his teeth and paws. Please, only those who do not mind offering your unconditional love to an adult dog should adopt him, i really don't wish to see him got abandoned again. Before you decide to adopt, pls make
sure that you will keep him forever to his last days. Keeping a pet is a lifetime commitment, you can't just change your mind and throw it away. Treat them like you would treat a family member.
If you're interested, pls email me at
or you may call me at 9847 0284 to arrange to have a look at the dog. If you're not interested, pls do help to circulate this email around to all your friends, i hope i can find a good owner for this poor doggie soon. Thank you everyone for your kind act.
Best regards

Reading this mail really breaks my heart. I hope that the dog finds a new home soon. This also reflects how big a commitment pet ownership is. Like Fennie said in the mail, keeping a pet is a lifetime commitment, you dont abandon it just becoz it's sick, or giving you problems. It's totally dependant on you to take care of it for life. Get a pet only if u're willing to make that commitment. Think twice. Of coz, having a pet is a a wonderful experience, you get to share your love with your pet, and your pet gives you their trust and love unconditionally, which is more than you can say about some human relationships, dont u think? Anyway, just my two cents worth on this.
