Carbs for the extra mass. Check these food if u r a vegetarian and keen in bbing. - for nutrition info on food. tofu (organic) - I marinate and then bake it for an hour so it gets somewhat firm and chewy. Then I store the cooked slices in the frig and use them as I wish -- with a side of rice or cut up in a salad, etc. protein powder - I do have one shake a day (with skim milk for a total of 32g protein) but I also put one halgf-scoop in my morning oatmeal (along with some wheat germ) to bring the total for the bowl to 20g. I use whey protein in my shake and soy protein in the oatmeal seitan - I make my own, usually in a double batch, so that I can freeze some and have it on hand for another meal. meat analogues - I like the Boca Sausage Italian variety and also Morningstar Farms veggie sausage links. These are the most processed foods I eat so I don't make them the centerpeice of my diet, but they are fast and easy. cottage cheese - this took some getting used to as I think it is pretty gross. Lately I have been chopping up 1/2 an apple and mixing it with a 4oz container of cottage cheese, loads of cinnamon and sweetener. It's pretty good. I also like cootage cheese with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and pepper. chcolate mousse - yes, really. Only it's made with silken tofu. Take 4Tb of liquid (could be water but coffee or raspberyy juice is better) and 1/2 cup sugar (or sweetener equivalent). Heat until bubbling, then take off heat and add 1 scoop chocolate protein powder and 2Tb cocoa powder. Stir until smooth, then add 1 1/2 tsp vanilla. Place in blender or processor with 1 tub silken tofu (I use lite tofu) and blend til smooth and creamy. Pour into 4 individual serving cups and refrigerate for at least 5 hours. Each one has 12g protein and only 2g fat. Carb will vary depending on what you use to sweeten it. protein bars - I make my own so they only contain good stuff. They come in at 136 calories, 13g protein, 17g carb (complex) and 2g fat (unsaturated). Veggies - veggies are actually very high in protein. 2 cups of broccoli has about 90 calories and 7.5 grams of protein (30% protein). Eggs - I'll scramble together 1 egg plus 1 eggwhite, then add some cooked onion, mushroom and zucchini. Sometimes I will add some hard cheese (i.e., parmesan), which is high in protein and not that high in fat. Yogurt - I buy plain non-fat yogurt and then add some vanilla and sweetener. Then I add mix-ins ike sunflower seeds and raisins. Grains/beans - Quinoa is pretty high in protein. Ditto lentils. I have to admit, though, that I count my grains as carbs and not so much as protein. I hope something here helps!
