Shoulder Injury
Question:
Went to gym today for chest workout, however, could not complete my schedule as I experienced a sharp pain in my left shouder while I was doing bench presses.
Same thing for incline bench press and flyes, any exercise that required a pushing movement caused pain.
Anyone got it before ?
I'm not sure if I've injured it but if I had, I didn't know it was injured until I started training today.

Answer:

Take a rest... u probably strained your traps or deltoids
Best is have someone to massage on you

Answer:

Ah I see.
If it's just a strain, then I guess it will go away in a few days.

Answer:

It is NOT a strain, nor is it injury to the delts or traps because these are muscles and muscles dont experience sharp pain unless it's torn.
From what it sounds like, it seems pretty serious; your rotator cuffs are probably injured. STOP ANY shoulder related exercises training and do some rotator cuff strengthening exercises.
Do not do any exercises that will aggravate the situation until it is completely recovered. Give your shoulders at least 2 weeks off if not u will regret it when it gets injured over the injury, which will worsen the situation and u might end up with permanant shoulder problems.
Google or search bodybuilding.com for rotator cuff strengthening exercises. one i found particularly effective is cuban rotation. but do it only after u let your shoulders have enuff rest.
The easiest way to destroy your shoulders is doing exercises like DB flyes (especially if done incline), lateral raise without proper form, butterfly machine, UPRIGHT ROWS, behind the neck press/pulldowns.

Answer:

I do have pains in my shoulders when doing only inclined bench press as well but its off and on. The place that im having alot of pain is my elbow when Im doing tricep extensions. And manifesto...thanks for the advise for hammer curls. First time doing it today and really can feel the lower part of my biceps really worked out.

Answer:

if u are having pain its either u r doing it wrongly or u are injured. either way stop and step back and analyse wot went wrong. do not pump thru the pain.

Answer:

Beast: That piece of advice is indeed a great help, thank you very much.
Style Doctor: No problem, glad that the advice worked. Have you tried the incline bench hammer curls? It works the lower part even more.
Astaroth: I am 100% sure something is wrong with my shoulder, and I can't pump through the pain, I couldn't even lift up the barbell.

Answer:

I second beast's opinion. I had shoulder injury once and had to stop tennis cause of it.

Answer:

a common mistake while doing bench press is that your shoulders might arch up to support the weight, this will cause strain to your shoulders, and if you don't correct it, u'll end up having such pains, and fail to target the proper part. U should check if you're doing it right.

Answer:

Manifesto: Yeap i tried it. Shiok! A have a similar pain in my left elbow. Cant even do one tricep curl even on a 10 pound dumb bell, i'll feel a sharp pain. But that's because of an old injury. So for triceps i gotta rely on machines to train. Sigh.

Answer:

Stop all training that will strain that injured part before it gets worse.

Answer:

stop training. I had that before. Just need plenty of rest.

Answer:

How long did you rest ?
