How to jump higher?

I heard doing squats is good....but how EFFECTIVE is squats?
What # per # day will guarantee a # cm/inch increase?
Calf or thigh muscles are more imporatnt?
And whats the proper way to jump to maximise my jump?

don't laugh when i in army, my ippt long jump is i never pass!!! till now also never pass. OK how i managed to ORD sucesssfully is through some stupid excuse given my doctor. My furhter is not even 1.5. And i got best grade in rest of segment including pull up. (now cannot liao gain 7 kg sience, now 68 kg fat fat)

calf muscles don contribute much to jumping. like 15% at most. squats will help. plyometrics too. but u need a strong base. and losing all those fat will help as well.

He's right. Do deep weighted (barbell) SQUATS and train the calves as well.
I found myself jumping higher and further these days even after casual squatting.
