How to stop losing weight, start gaining muscle?
Question:
Hi. At the end of last year I was a slightly chubby fella at 61KG at about 1.68m tall. Decided to start working out and controlling my diet so that I wouldn't have this layer of fats around me which really started to show. So I ran 3.2km about 2-3 times a week for a few months. Soon my timing started to shorten and I could see my weight dropping, and I finally hit about 54KG recently. Which is almost underweight. What alarms me slightly is that I look like a stick now and it's not the desired effect I want. I tried eating more protein stuff and ate more eggs and fish and did weights and all that but I'm still looking very skinny and sticky. What should I do?

Answer:

Sounds pretty vague. Your stats.
For example, how old are you?( Metabolism obviously tends to decrease as u age!)
More eggs & fish? How many meals a day? What other food? Just Eggs & Fish?!
Do u still run? How long is your run? Frequency?
How long is your weights training? Frequency? What do u normally do? Do u know roughly how many sets u perform? ( total for that muscle group) How many reps per set?
Ok thats all i can think of for now. Tell us more.

Answer:

Hmm I'm 17 coming to 18 soon, I eat 3 meals a day (effectively 2 because breakfast is small and rushed) and I eat the normal stuff like vegetables and rice blah blah... I don't eat too much but it's enough to keep me from being hungry most of the time.
I try to maintain running at least twice a week for 3.2KM.
Weights training I kind of stagnated at once a week. Mostly do some free weights but since I'm so small I stick to light weights (maybe 5kg)...I have no idea what the muscle groups are called (that's why i need help) but I do at least 30 in 3 reps for whatever I do. And btw my bench pressing is unusually bad (I can do worse than scrawny people who can't do 3 pullups while I can do 8 pullups).
Basically I don't know what to do and I don't want to do the wrong thing.

you are on the internet my friend.

Answer:

Hmm after the A levels I will go at this full time, see what I can do in about 2/6 months before I get called in for ns depending on whether jan or april

Answer:

bigger doesn't mean more muscle. muscles aren't big by nature.
